Flash it with sysupgrade over an existing OpenWrt install (LuCI System > Backup / Flash firmware). There is no factory image; install stock OpenWrt first.

Customize

Add or leave out packages and add a first-boot script. The request opens as a GitHub issue (a GitHub account is needed); the image is built from this release and linked there in about 10 minutes.

Add packages

Packages in the image (0). Tap one to leave it out.

First-boot script

Runs once as /etc/uci-defaults/99-custom. The request is public: no passwords or keys.

Kernel modules

Every kernel module of this release, built with its kernel. The image already points at this feed:

apk update && apk add kmod-<name>

Images from this page update themselves to the newest release, keeping settings and every package you added:

LuCI: System > Firmware update, then Update now, or turn on Update automatically.
Shell: ppe-update check and ppe-update update.
Automatic, once a day at 04:00, a release at least a day old:
uci set ppe-update.main.auto=1; uci commit ppe-update; /etc/init.d/ppe-update reload
